Vigil on the Eve of Baptism

When it is desired to celebrate a vigil on the eve of the Bishops Visitation or other occasion in preparation for the administration of baptism at a principal Sunday morning service, the following order may be used.

The Vigil begins with the Service of Light, Prayer Book page 109, and continues, after the Phos hilaron, with the Salutation and Collect. Three or more of the appointed Lessons are read before the Gospel, each followed by a period of silence and a Psalm, Canticle, or hymn.
